Located
on the banks of Alaknanda river in the lap of Nar Narayan mountain
range in Uttrakhand, is one of the most holiest Hindu pilgrim center.
Badrinath as we all know is one of the most sacred of the Char Dhams
of North India. Every year Hindu pilgrims from all around the world
visit the Badrinath temple to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu and
to wash away all their sins.
Since
ages it is believed that coming on a Chardham Yatra will wash
away all your bad deeds and will help you in getting rid of the birth
cycle. It is this belief that bring the Hindu pilgrims to this sacred
temple where the Char Dham yatra come to an end.
History:
As
far as legend goes it is believed that Lord Vishnu resides here in
two forms i.e Nara and Narayan. Infact one also find mention of
Badrinath temple in the epic Mahabharata. It is said that the
Pandavas prayed at the temple before going to the heaven. Since then
people come here, pray and seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
The
Holy Yatra:
Every
year in the month of April, the kapat of Badrinath temple opens for
the pilgrims (as through out the year the temple is closed due to
snow). This marks the beginning of the holy Char Dham yatra, that
includes a trip to Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamumotri (the other
dhams).
Other
Travel Attractions:
Beside
a religious journey the travelers can enjoy a trip to other travel
attractions of the Garhwal hills located near to Badrinath temple.
Places like Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers
are very popular among the visitors.
